- The central facility of the 1970 Osaka Expo, the 108-meter wide, 291.6-meter long large roof composed of a space frame was erected in about a month's lifting. The state-of-the-art robots and housing equipment of the time were placed in and under the roof, which functioned as a stage for visualizing the cutting-edge technology that Japan was proud of during its rapid economic growth. Yoshikatsu Tsuboi was in charge of the structure, Arata Isozaki was in charge of the festival plaza equipment, and Kisho Kurokawa was in charge of the aerial theme pavilion. The Tower of the Sun, which penetrates the roof, was designed by Taro Okamoto.
