Centre Pompidou
Renzo Piano + Richard Rogers + Ove Nyquist Arup
- Outline
- A comprehensive cultural facility located in the center of Paris, designed after a competition chaired by Jean Prouvé in 1971. A massive steel truss was used to realize a column-free interior space. In order to enhance the flexibility of the interior, the pipes and lines of flow for people located outside were color-coded and exposed as design elements. The front plaza, which slopes gently toward the building, provides a place for citizens to relax.
