Kohaku-an
Sei’ichi Shirai
- Outline
- This is the residence of Chenichi Shirai, who argued for "Jomon" as opposed to Tange's "Yayoi" in the tradition debate that developed in Shinkenchiku magazine in 1955-1956. At the back of the walled compound is a Japanese-style courtyard paved with white sand. The interior is covered in dark colors, with Brazilian rosewood, bronze-colored glass doors, black granite floors, and velvet-covered walls.
