Salk Institute for Biological Studies

Outline
Two buildings with segmented concrete walls and white wooden openings are lined up across the courtyard, connecting the private room zone and the collaborative laboratory zone via loggias. The floors of the laboratory and the servant space for machinery and equipment are alternately stacked on top of each other. The central court, composed of stone and water geometry, has a monumental character as a "facade toward the sky.
