Kazuo Shinohara

- A square-plan, square-roofed wooden house. The light penetrating into the abstract space without joints or rounded edges, and the symbolically arranged thick pillars, are the central features of the "first style" of houses based on the Japanese tradition. Kazuo Shinohara advocated that "the house is an art form" in the context of the industrialization of housing at the time. Although a request to relocate the house was made shortly before its completion, it took over 40 years to be realized, and the house was relocated in 2008 to comply with current regulations.
