House G

Outline
This wooden structure with a single-flow roof and solid wood planks is built on a pilotis of RC ramen structure by Miho Hamaguchi, the first female first-class architect in Japan. The house embodies a new postwar lifestyle by Hamaguchi, who made the most of the circular flow of housework around the dining room and kitchen, and reinforced thermal insulation to improve airtightness. The new owner has respected the original form, and the house has been renovated by Atelier Bow-Wow and others as "Tsudayama no Ie" (House in Tsudayama).
