Flakturme Augarten
Friedrich Tamms
- Outline
- One of the three towers that the Nazis built in pairs in a triangular shape around the old city to strengthen Vienna's air defense, it could hold 30,000 to 40,000 people and was equipped with power generation facilities, filters for poison gas, and medical facilities. After the war, it was considered impossible to dismantle the towers due to the thickness of the walls, and they still remain on the grounds of the Augartenpark.
