- Built during the Depression, it was described as the first skyscraper in the International Style for its lack of ornamentation, but the granite corners of the lower level (stores on the first floor, bank on the second) evoke a sense of Art Deco. It symbolizes the transitional period when American skyscrapers were transforming from stylized monuments to functional offices devoid of ornamentation.
