Daily Express Building

Outline
The headquarters building of a British tabloid newspaper. It was designed under the leadership of Owen Williams, a well-known civil engineer. The exterior is a curtain wall of black tinted glass and transparent glass, divided by a chrome band. The desire for restrained ornamentation erupts in the entrance hall, designed by Robert Atkinson, with an interior that has been described as the finest Art Deco in England. The southeast corner (right photo), where the walls were originally orthogonal, was curved in later renovations.
