- This is a joint work by Liang Sicheng, the "father of modern architecture in China," and his wife, Lin Huiyuan. The L-shaped plan with varying number of floors was designed to break the traditional symmetry, and the rational design of eight residential units with an internal corridor connecting the rooms and a common water closet at the end marked a turning point in the modernization of Chinese architecture.
