- The first facility in Japan dedicated to cetaceans, located in Taiji Town, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. It is 88 meters long and can accommodate up to 30 people. It consists of a cetacean laboratory, exhibition space, a library, and a hall for local education and international conferences. The large roof is supported by an inverted beam made of steel frame over large CLT (2,260 mm wide, 6,700 to 9,500 mm long, and 150 mm thick). The floor level differs by approximately 3 m between the west and east sides of the building, in accordance with the slope of the site.
