KURE MARITIME MUSEUM (YAMATO MUSEUM) LARGE LATHE EXHIBITION FACILITY
SAKANE・DAIWA DESIGN BUILD
- Outline
- An outdoor exhibition facility planned for the Kure Maritime History and Science Museum (Yamato Museum). A large lathe (approximately 175 tons) that was used to cut the barrel of the Battleship Yamato is stored inside, and visitors can view it from the passageway. Due to the weight of the lathe, it was transported by sea and installed first, and then the frame (steel frame + wood composite structure) was assembled in five days using heavy machinery.
