PRINTMAKING STUDIO/FRANS MASEREEL CENTRE
HIDEYUKI NAKAYAMA ARCHITECTURE LIST
- Outline
- The "Frans Masereel Centrum", an art center for graphic arts opened in 1972, has a series of studios and residential facilities for artists-in-residence. The Printmaking Studio, which has been extended this time, houses six functions: a workroom, an unpacking area and passage, a lounge, a gallery and archive, a darkroom, and a printing press room. The circular space is divided into sections, "like cutting a cake," to give each space its own function. The ceiling is made of wood with a reciprocal structure to create a column-free space.
