HOSHINOYA TAKETOMIJIMA

Outline
A resort hotel located in Taketomi Island, Yaeyama-gun, Okinawa. Taketomi Island is adjacent to Ishigaki Island and has a population of about 350 people. The village is designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The guest rooms are constructed of stone blocks called guk, which are found in traditional villages on the island. The stones are Ryukyu limestone mined in this site. No mortar is used, just stones.
