CONSTRUCTION FOR EARTHQUAKE PROOFING REINFORCEMENT OF MEIJI JINGU GEHAIDEN

Outline
Seismic reinforcement of the outer sanctuary, which was constructed in 1958. The outer sanctuary, constructed in 1958, was reinforced without the use of a steel frame to maintain its existing appearance, but was required to be strong enough to withstand a major earthquake of magnitude 6 or higher. A seismic diagnosis and reinforcement design was carried out using limit capacity calculations, and reinforcement was carried out using traditional techniques whose effectiveness was verified by experiments.
