THE APARTMENT AT THE END OF THE ALLEY

Outline
This project consists of four rental and owner-occupied units located at the end of a T-intersection in Nakano, Tokyo. In order to maximize the use of the limited site, the spaces created by the small gaps between the buildings, the T-junction extending in front of the site, the open space in front of the windows, and the diagonal lines on the north side of the building are actively incorporated into the spaces inside the units and the landscape seen from the windows. The result is a complex structure that can be described as a form of urban residence.
