- The museum opened on April 26, 2008. The museum consists of commissioned works (permanent) by 22 artists active in Japan and abroad, as well as spaces for civic activities. Large and small houses for art are arranged independently to create an overall impression. This project is positioned as part of Arts Towada, a project for urban development through art.
