House in Higashisakata

Outline
After the elderly homeowner moved to a nearby facility, leaving the house vacant, the family rebuilt it into a home that could serve a variety of purposes. In addition to serving as a place for the homeowner to stay during temporary visits and for the homeowner’s daughters to live, it is also used as a gathering place for family reunions, dyeing workshops, and other events. The exterior design, inspired by the nearby mountains and ancient burial mounds, serves as a distinctive landmark.
