House in Ashikubo

Outline: This detached-style residence is situated on a site bordered by a river to the north, a forested hillside to the south, and a cliff, with tea fields stretching across the western slope. The stones used for the approach were either originally found on the site or donated by neighbors. A small mound was constructed near the entrance to the site, creating a winding approach that preserves the intimate atmosphere of the garden between the two buildings.
