Under The Tree

Outline: This residence is situated on a site dotted with factories, homes, and rice paddies. It features a large earthen-floored area designed to serve as a rental studio accessible to local residents, while also functioning as a living and dining space on a daily basis. A large, tree-like wooden framework rises within this space, connecting the atmosphere of the interior with the surrounding neighborhood through the tree. The tree standing at the center of the space serves not only as a structural element but also as a core that embraces the daily lives of its inhabitants. By welcoming others into this private space, the design explores a new form of public life where daily living, work, and community activities intersect.
