Outline: A plan to build a new home for the client’s family in the backyard of the client’s childhood home. The design consists of a long, narrow gable-roofed volume with a green-roofed porch attached to it. The placement of the volume was determined after considering its relationship with the existing barn and main house. The first floor consists of a large open-plan space, while the second floor features three private rooms and a loft raised 690 mm above the floor level, encouraging a variety of uses.
