House in Ginkakuji
Kentaro Takeguchi+Asako Yamamoto/ALPHAVILLE Architects
- Outline
- The building is located in a built-up residential area close to the Ginkakuji Temple. The site was excavated to create an elevation difference of approximately 3 meters from the front road on the east side, and the first and second floors are wooden structures on top of the reinforced concrete basement. Inside, the rooms are arranged three-dimensionally with diagonal load-bearing walls and pillars, and a staircase is built between them. The walls are finished with structural plywood, and the final finishing touches were discussed by the owner, an architect and engineer, while living in the house, and the construction was done by himself.
