- The house is built on a site approximately 1.3 m to 1.8 m below the asphalt paved road in a residential area with a difference in elevation. A steel-framed pier connects the road and the second floor of the house. The pier is 5,100 mm wide at its widest point; the pier rises toward the entrance, and the second-story hip wall along the approach is a quasi-bearing wall to provide a degree of privacy while maintaining wall mass.
