Outline: A four-story mixed-use building in central Sendai housing tenant spaces and owner residences. Concerned that surrounding development would maximize building coverage and floor area ratios, creating a uniform, impersonal streetscape with little connection between interior and exterior, the building features a continuous, belt-like exterior wall with plantings. This wall acts as a buffer to the street, opening diverse activities within the building to the surrounding neighborhood.
