House in Sengataki

Outline: The house stands on a site overlooking a wooded area in Karuizawa. A large terrace facing the wooded area on the south side is surrounded by a gently curving plan. Two Japanese-style rooms and a study are separated from the house to create a variety of living spaces. In addition, for the family who moved to Karuizawa, various innovations were made to make the house highly airtight and insulated, including the use of exterior insulation and triple sash windows.
