- The house, built near matsue castle, has a thick, overlapping roof, with nine roofs that create various cross-sectional relationships in the interior, making the exterior look like a gable roof or a sculpture, depending on the direction of view. the interior is composed of two square volumes placed within the large volume created by the overlapping roofs.
