Sumida town has rich forest resources and a woodworking complex for lumbering and processing. in order to promote residence in the town for elderly singles and to provide a place for child-rearing generation including immigrants, wooden town houses for singles and families (shimizusawa danchi + hiishi danchi) were built in the town.
