Outline
This hotel was built in 1710 in the area associated with the Mitsui family, where the "Omotokata," the controlling body of the Mitsui family, was located and where the main residence was located for 250 years. The hotel follows the plan of the Aburakouji Residence, which was designed by Takamune Mitsui, the 10th head of the Mitsui family, in the mid-Meiji period. The hotel has a courtyard, and the design of the lobby, restaurant, Four Seasons Room, and guest rooms is based on the connection with the courtyard. The landscape is composed by rearranging existing elements such as the pond garden of the Aburakouji residence, lanterns, stone wash basins, stone bridges, landscape stones, and stepping stones.
