A nine-story office building in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, was renovated into a medical building that houses several hospitals, mainly for obstetrics and gynecology. While retaining the existing steel-framed reinforced concrete frame, the floor slab and crown wall were removed to reduce the weight of the frame, and the walls were reinforced to resist earthquakes. The exterior of the building was newly constructed, and the materials were switched for each layer.
