This government building was constructed on Yakushima Island, where two towns were merged in 2007 to form one island and one town. The theme of the project was "Utilization of the local cedar of Yakushima" and "Creation of a sustainable mechanism for the utilization of the local cedar through the construction of the government building", and the results of numerous tests on the characteristics of the local cedar, the establishment of the LLP and the Yakushima Town Wood Processing Center, and so on.
