Outline
The Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens, London, has hosted the pavilion, which has been designed by a different architect every summer since 2000. The pavilion is located adjacent to the gallery. The roof, made of approximately 61 tons of Cambrian slate from northern England, is supported by 106 columns. The columns are 48 mm in diameter and are spaced approximately 2 m apart. The ceiling height ranges from 70 to 4,800 mm, and the roof is covered with steel mesh panels. The slates are placed in piles and are partially fastened to the base with hardware.
