A lodging facility (Suiden Terrace) and a children's play facility (Kids Dome Solai) are located in the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture, in an area where the Keio University Institute for Advanced Biosciences and bio-ventures are concentrated. The site was originally covered with rice paddies.
