HIDEYUKI NAKAYAMA ARCHITECTURE
Outline
A project to renovate a prefectural medicinal herb garden built in the 1980s into a distillery. The project fulfills the necessary functions with minimum operations to the existing building. Visitors approach the garden from a small staircase by the existing entrance. The existing administration building, which was renovated into a distillery, has a hall cut out in an oval shape in the center. It is a quasi-hygienic pre-distillation room that connects the various distillation processes, as well as a tour space. The scenery of each room is trimmed by the door frame which cited the shape of the existing opening.
