Outline
A one-story wooden community center. Taga Town, located in the southeast of Hikone City, has a population of 7,000, and 85% of the town's area is forested, where the forestry and lumber industry used to flourish. In 2016, an open competition was held to rebuild the old community center, which had become decrepit, while making effective use of its forest resources, and this proposal was selected from 179 proposals. Sugi (Japanese cedar) and Hinoki (Japanese cypress) trees produced in the town are used for the structural materials, base materials, interior and exterior materials, and furniture materials.
