Nakagawa City, where the Gokayama Dam, which was completed in March 2018, is located, has developed "Gokayama Cross," the closest "urban outdoor sanctuary" from the Fukuoka metropolitan area, by dotting the area around the dam lake with campgrounds, river playgrounds, and barbecue sites. The "Gokayama Cross Base," built on the lakeside, consists of an outdoor goods shop, a café-restaurant using local ingredients, and an observation deck. The landscape is framed by an opening that avoids the nearby management office and other facilities attached to the dam.
