Outline
A plan for the relocation and reconstruction of Nagasaki Prefectural Government's main office building. A site adjacent to the sea in front of Nagasaki Station was selected. Nikken Sekkei, Matsubayashi Architects and Engineers, and Ikeda Sekkei were selected in a public proposal process for their proposal for a "government office building that makes the most of hills" that would harmonize with the landscape and coexist with the environment through low-rise buildings. The building is designed to create an integrated public space with a view from the station, in cooperation with the surrounding urban development, disaster prevention greenery, parking building, and police headquarters building. In addition, the design can flexibly respond to future changes in the program, such as the introduction of a provincial system.
