SEISMIC ISOLATION RETROFIT AND EXTENSION OF KANAGAWA PREFECTURE GOVERNMENT NEW BUILDING/RENEWAL OF KANAGAWA PREFECTURE GOVERNMENT MAIN BUILDING AND THE SECOND ANNEX

Outline
The renovation and expansion plan of the new Kanagawa Prefectural Government Building completed in 1966 (design: Junzo Sakakura Architectural Institute, 6608). In order to secure the functions of the Kanagawa Prefectural Government in the event of a large-scale earthquake or tsunami, the new government building was renovated to include seismic isolation, and the energy center building was extended to the southeast plaza, which was used as a parking lot. The new government building is connected to the main office building (front) and the second branch office building (back) by a bridge. The second floor of the energy center building is open to the public as a pilotis.
