This is a plan to improve the worship space centering on the existing stone statue of the Great Buddha in Makomanai Takino Cemetery in Minami-ku, Sapporo. The 13.5m high Big Buddha, which used to sit on the plain, is covered with lavender hills and buried so that only its head is shown to the outside. It was aimed to harmonize with the surrounding landscape and to become a new landmark of the cemetery.
