RYUICHI ASHIZAWA ARCHITECTS & ASSOCIATES
Outline
This is a complex facility consisting of a hotel, banquet and chapel in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture. In order to regenerate the ecotone of Lake Biwa (ecological transition from the lake to the land), an inner lake (biotope) is created in the front and a satoyama forest is created in the back, and the architecture is placed between them. The chapel, Kaze no Oto (Wind Sound Building), draws in the wind from Lake Biwa and produces sound by resonating the walls and the strings connected to them, making the architecture itself an aeolian herb.
