SAMBUICHI ARCHITECTS
Outline
This project is to reconstruct a dilapidated observatory on the 535-meter-high summit of Mt. The observatory is a two-story building made entirely of lumber from Hiroshima Prefecture, and the second floor has a circular edge that opens in all directions so that visitors can look out over the landscape. The second floor is open on all sides to allow a panoramic view of the landscape. The aim was to create an observatory where visitors can take off their shoes and sit on the floor to enjoy the view and feel the natural life of the Setouchi area.
