Outline
This is a temporary music hall built for the city of L'Aquila, which was damaged by the earthquake that struck northeastern Italy in 2009. It stands adjacent to the Music Academy. With the support of the Japanese government, it was constructed mainly of paper tubes and lightweight steel frames. The walls of the concert hall, which need to be heavy for acoustics, are made of lightweight steel frames filled with sand bags instead of concrete.
