The house is located in a terraced residential area. the ground level is lowered on the east side of the site, and one can see the mountains in the distance over the residential area. the house has veranda on the east and south sides, which can be accessed from every room on the first floor. the house makes the most of the ambiguity of this intermediate area that japanese architecture has.
