Outline
In order to connect the garden of the adjacent main house with the greenery of the shrine on the west side of the site in the future, half of the site is used as an external space and the gable roof volume is placed on the other half. The exterior walls narrow towards the shrine, shifting slightly like a series of shoji doors. When looking from the inside of the building to the outside, the columns and sash windows allow a relatively clear line of sight to the main building side, while the line of sight to the shrine side is kept relatively low, thus maintaining privacy.
