The Farmer’s House of the Diagonal Lattice
bookmark_outline
Takashi Yonezawa Architects+Naoki Nomura
Outline
Renovation of a 150-year-old farmhouse. The flow lines and functions necessary for the couple's daily life are concentrated on the west side of the house, while the east side is intended to be used as a guesthouse or cram school in the future. The building was reinforced against earthquakes by lining the perimeter with a grid of diagonal timber to preserve its existing form.
