The designer's own residence is located on a hillside surrounded by mountains and forests, not far from the urban area of Awaji Island. Many of the materials used in the building, such as wood, roof tiles, and wall clay, are made from materials available on Awaji Island. The roof tiles are Awaji "Gin Komi" tiles made by Daiei Ceramics.
