Outline
This is a renovation of a 130-year-old private house built in 1884. Together with Junji Korihara of Kenchiku Korihara, we reconstructed the house as a modern residence while utilizing the existing traditional construction methods and spaces. In addition to extending the space to the north and south by 1.5 square meters each, the house was reduced in size and a sunroom was added to assist with space and function, while actively using existing materials to create a home that allows light and air to flow through.
