Outline
The owner is a librarian and the building is located in the center of Akita Prefecture, which has the highest rate of population decline in Japan. He opens his home one or two days a week as a library where the elderly can come for a cup of tea, and organizes events related to books. Based on a proposal for an outdoor room in a "compact box house" developed by Namba after the Great East Japan Earthquake, a space was created to house a collection of about 20,000 books.
