- Outline
- Star House is a point-style residential building characterized by a Y-shaped (Mitsumata) floor plan in which three residential units are arranged radially around a triangular stairwell. Three such buildings still stand in the former Akabane-dai Housing Complex (now Nouvelle Akabane-dai). Regarding one of these buildings (formerly Building No. 44), the proposal by Yosuke Suzaki and Ayako Terada was selected in the “UR Community Living Competition” (Jury Chair: Yoko Kinoshita) held in 2021. The proposal converted the original floor plan, which had three residential units, into one with two units, remodeling it into a L-shaped layout. The building’s primary use is as an exhibition space.
