SCHEMATA ARCHITECTS

Outline: Renovation of a former ironworks located near Ieura Port on Teshima Island in the Seto Inland Sea. The existing building was divided into two sections, each under 200 square meters: one serves as a food processing plant, retaining the original corrugated slate roofing; the other serves as a cafeteria, with its exterior walls replaced with transparent corrugated polycarbonate panels of the same pitch. It also serves as the front desk for Hotel Shu (designed by Tsubame Architects; see issue 2606 of this magazine), commissioned by the same client.
