Superblock
Ajuntament de Barcelona
- Outline
- This project is a reorganization of the streets of Barcelona's grid-like city center into a single superblock of 400m squares of 3x3 city blocks, restricting automobile traffic inside and reorganizing the streets into pedestrian spaces. The streets have been greened and furnished with street furniture, creating a new living space for residents. In order to realize the concept, data such as CO2 emissions and pedestrian space ratios were analyzed, and the project succeeded in improving air pollution, reducing noise, and increasing the commercial value of the district.
